On The Green was born out of our family’s frustration that we have to travel outside of Stevenage to find an independent restaurant offering quality, seasonal, local fare.
We feel passionately about knowing the provenance of the food we serve and where it is not possible to source locally (Hertfordshire is not blessed with a coastline for example) we will only use suppliers where we can track the produce back to source.

As an independent business, we are able to be reactive to the availability of quality supplies which means that our specials will be just that – special.
But more than that, as a family we care about the overall experience too. All our tables will have adjustable lighting so that diners can set their own ambience.
If you book a table, it is yours for the night. You can stay for as long as you want.
And if you have a special occasion, all you need to do is let us know what you would like to eat or drink (or both) and we will do our utmost to make it happen.
